At just 16 years old, Bryce Brooks made a decision that changed the lives of four young children forever. During a family vacation in Florida, the teenager noticed children struggling in dangerous ocean currents and immediately rushed into the water to help them. Without thinking about his own safety, Bryce put their lives before his own.

The Atlanta teenager managed to help the children, but the powerful current pulled him under. His father, Shivy Brooks, later shared that even while in danger, Bryce was calling for help for the younger kids, not himself. Although the family faced unimaginable heartbreak after losing him, they said they were incredibly proud of the courage and kindness their son showed.

Bryce’s parents describe him as a true hero who sacrificed everything to save others. His legacy continues through the Bryce Brooks Foundation, created to promote water safety, provide swimming lessons, and support teens through lifeguard certification scholarships. The foundation has already helped young people while keeping Bryce’s memory alive.

While the pain of losing their son remains, his family finds comfort knowing Bryce’s final act showed exactly who he was. A loving, selfless young man who cared deeply for others.
