Employee Wears Ridiculous Wigs After Company Rejects Pink Hair

Emily Benschoter never expected her new hospitality job to make her internet famous. Before her first shift, the Georgia woman asked whether her signature pink hair would be acceptable at work. Management told her it wasn’t allowed, suggesting she cover it with a wig instead. Rather than dyeing her hair, she decided to follow the rule in her own unforgettable way.

Instead of buying realistic wigs, Emily collected the most outrageous ones she could find. From oversized curls and awkward mullets to theatrical costume hairpieces, each wig was more ridiculous than the last. She joked that “the worse the wig, the better,” turning every shift into a humorous display that attracted far more attention than her pink hair ever would have.

She began sharing her looks on TikTok, where videos of her “malicious compliance” quickly went viral. One clip alone received hundreds of thousands of views as viewers praised her creative response to the company’s appearance policy. Her growing collection of bizarre wigs earned her thousands of followers, all eager to see what hairstyle she’d wear next.

The unusual wigs also became conversation starters with customers, many of whom couldn’t believe pink hair wasn’t permitted while the comical disguises were. Emily explained that she simply wanted to keep both her job and her personal style. Her story has since sparked wider discussions about workplace dress codes, self-expression, and whether policies on hair color still make sense in modern workplaces.
