If you’ve ever spotted a dark little bug with creepy-looking pincers on its back end, you may have wondered what on earth it was! 😨 Don’t panic—it’s very likely an earwig, a common insect that usually prefers hiding in dark, damp places rather than bothering people.

Those scary-looking pincers are called cerci, and although an earwig can give a mild pinch if handled, it generally isn’t aggressive. ❤️ They often come out at night and may hide under rugs, in bathrooms, basements, cardboard, or piles of leaves. And despite the creepy old story, earwigs do NOT crawl into people’s ears! 👂😂

Earwigs may wander indoors looking for moisture and shelter, slipping through small cracks around doors, windows, or foundations. They aren’t poisonous and generally pose little danger to people or pets. 🐶🐱 Even if a curious pet happens to eat one, it usually isn’t a serious problem.

🏠✨ Want to keep them away? Reduce moisture, fix leaks, vacuum regularly, and seal cracks or gaps where insects can enter. You can also use simple traps to catch them.
