With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of a beloved star

Hollywood is mourning the loss of beloved actress Shelley Fabares, who has died at the age of 82. Fabares’ family confirmed that she passed away Saturday in Los Angeles, surrounded by those who loved her. Her husband, MASH* star Mike Farrell, and their family remembered her as a devoted wife, stepmother, and friend whose kindness, humor, and warmth touched everyone around her.

Born in Santa Monica, California, in 1944, Fabares began acting as a child and made her television debut at just 10 years old. Her breakthrough came when she was cast as Mary Stone on The Donna Reed Show, a role that made her a familiar face to millions of viewers. She also enjoyed success as a singer, with her 1962 hit “Johnny Angel” reaching No. 1 on the charts.

Fabares later appeared alongside Elvis Presley in three films, including Girl Happy, Spinout, and Clambake. Years afterward, she found another major television role as Christine Armstrong on Coach, starring opposite Craig T. Nelson. Her performance earned her two Emmy nominations and introduced her to a whole new generation of fans. She also appeared in numerous other television shows and films throughout her long career.

Fabares was married to Mike Farrell for decades and became stepmother to his two children from his previous marriage. Her family said she will be remembered not only for her remarkable career but for her courage, loyalty, generosity, and beautiful spirit. Shelley Fabares leaves behind a legacy that spans generations of television and film. Rest in peace, Shelley.
