When the family shared their discovery, the image quickly spread online, with people desperately trying to determine what was lurking behind them. Was it actually a shark swimming dangerously close to the family—or was something else creating the strange shape?

🔍 Social media users were divided. Some argued that the water appeared too shallow for a shark with such a large dorsal fin, while others believed a shark couldn’t be ruled out. The Victoria Fisheries Authority and Life Saving Victoria could not confirm what appeared in the photograph. That uncertainty only made the image more fascinating—and frightening.
