At 80, Candice Bergen continues to embrace life on her own terms. The celebrated actress and former model built a remarkable career, becoming especially famous for her role as Murphy Brown. Her performance earned her seven Emmy nominations and five wins, making the character one of the most memorable roles of her career. 🎬

After years in the spotlight, however, Bergen decided she no longer wanted to obsess over maintaining a youthful figure. In her memoir A Fine Romance, she openly discussed her relationship with food, saying she had gained around 30 pounds over 15 years and was comfortable with it. She made it clear that she enjoys eating and has no interest in following restrictive diets simply to meet other people’s expectations.
Bergen also wrote about enjoying rich meals at social gatherings while ignoring judgment from others. She criticized the pressure many women feel to preserve their youthful appearance and said she would rather enjoy her life and food than constantly worry about her weight. Her attitude reflected a broader decision to accept herself rather than chase an unrealistic standard of aging.
Today, Bergen is also enjoying her role as a mother and grandmother. She had daughter Chloe with her first husband, French filmmaker Louis Malle, who died in 1995. She later married Marshall Rose, and her family has grown with the arrival of grandchildren Arthur, born in 2020, and Alice, born in 2022. ❤️ Bergen has continued sharing glimpses of her family life while celebrating this new chapter.
