Angela Stribling, a beloved radio personality and pioneering BET host, has died at 58. Her husband, Ken Washington, announced that she passed away peacefully at home on September 26, following a two-year battle with brain cancer. Her sister Darlene and husband were by her side. Washington remembered her as someone whose love, kindness, joy, and spirit would never be forgotten.

Born in Buffalo, New York, Stribling eventually moved to Washington, D.C., to pursue a career centered around her voice. A jazz singer at heart, she built an impressive broadcasting career and became a familiar face on BET during the 1990s. She hosted Screen Scene and helped pioneer the network’s jazz coverage through Jazz Central, while also working with WJZ-TV and WJLA-TV.

Stribling later became a respected radio host, most recently presenting Pillow Talk with Angela on WHUR and SiriusXM. Throughout her career, she interviewed numerous well-known figures, including Bill Clinton, Quincy Jones, Janet Jackson, Stevie Wonder, and Sterling K. Brown. She also appeared on The Real Housewives of Potomac and made a cameo as a television anchor in Eddie Murphy’s 1992 film The Distinguished Gentleman.

Even while facing serious health challenges, Stribling continued to express gratitude for life. In her final birthday message in October 2025, she reflected on a difficult year and said she was grateful for every moment.
