The family of actor Chad Lowe is mourning the heartbreaking loss of his 13-year-old daughter, Fiona, who died on September 29, 2026. Fiona was the middle of Chad and Kim Painter’s three daughters and was remembered by her family as a loving, smart and creative girl who loved to dance. Her parents described her as “the light of our lives” while asking for privacy as they grieve.
According to the medical examiner’s report, Fiona’s death was ruled suicide. Authorities were called to the family’s home shortly after midnight. The family’s statement also included information about the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline. Chad has received support from his brother, actor Rob Lowe, along with relatives and close friends who have gathered around the family during the devastating loss.
Fiona’s childhood was filled with family moments, including birthdays, outdoor activities and watching sunsets with her father. Chad had often spoken about how much being a father meant to him, calling having three daughters an “incredible privilege.” Fiona was also passionate about dance, and on her 13th birthday, Chad shared a heartfelt message ending with the words, “Keep dancing through life.”

The family had already experienced a major loss when the Pacific Palisades Fire destroyed their home in January 2025. Chad later spoke about rebuilding their lives and the importance of staying together. Now, the family is facing another unimaginable chapter. Fiona will be remembered not only as the daughter of a Hollywood actor, but as a beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, friend and dancer whose life brought joy to those around her. ❤️
