Actor Alan Ritchson, best known for playing Jack Reacher in Amazon’s hit series Reacher, has never been shy about expressing his political and religious views. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor criticized Christians who enthusiastically support Donald Trump, calling the president a “rapist and a con man.” Trump has repeatedly denied rape allegations. Ritchson questioned how Christians could embrace a political figure whose public image, in his view, conflicts with the teachings of Jesus.
Ritchson’s argument went beyond Trump himself. Describing himself as a follower of Jesus, he said Christians should be known for love, generosity, and compassion, not hostility toward people who disagree with them. He also criticized the Catholic Church over allegations of abuse and institutional cover-ups, saying that a failure to hold those responsible accountable was deeply disturbing. He has continued sharing his religious reflections through his online InstaChurch videos.
His remarks attracted criticism from conservative commentators and some fans. Sebastian Gorka, a former Trump administration official, was among those who publicly addressed Ritchson’s comments. Other conservative voices questioned whether the actor’s political statements could alienate part of his audience. Ritchson, however, has shown little interest in staying silent. In September 2026, he even claimed that production studios had asked him to stop discussing politics publicly.
And the controversy hasn’t ended. In a July 2026 appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Ritchson again attacked Trump, this time focusing on the Jeffrey Epstein files and demanding transparency and accountability. His outspoken position has made him a subject of debate among viewers, particularly those who separate their admiration for Jack Reacher from the actor’s personal beliefs.
