A private jet flight over South Florida ended in tragedy after a Learjet 60 plunged approximately 32,000 feet in just one minute, killing all nine people aboard. Cockpit audio captured the terrifying final exchanges between the crew and air traffic controllers as the aircraft encountered dangerous conditions before crashing in Greenacres, near West Palm Beach, on November 1, 2026. The crash happened roughly eight miles from Donald Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
In the minutes before the disaster, the pilot reported ice building up on the aircraft and severe turbulence, describing the conditions as increasingly difficult. The crew requested permission to climb another 2,000 feet, but the situation quickly deteriorated. The pilot declared an emergency and reported a rapid descent, an overspeed condition, and the aircraft banking at a steep angle. At one point, she desperately warned controllers: “We’re going to crash into the ground.” A controller tried to keep communication open, responding, “I’m here with you, talk to me.” The final words included: “We’re out of time.”
The aircraft crashed near South Military Trail and Marilyn Drive, triggering a massive fire and scattering debris across the area. Around 600 residents from a nearby mobile home community were evacuated while emergency crews responded. One resident, Anthony Blackmon, described debris hitting his home and flames spreading across the road. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis called the destruction a “cataclysmic plane crash,” adding that witnesses described the aircraft as looking like a missile falling from the sky.
The jet had departed Austin, Texas, and was heading to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas. Heavy rain was affecting the region, and a flood watch was in effect. Although all nine people aboard were confirmed dead, authorities reported no injuries on the ground. Federal investigators now face the task of determining what caused the aircraft to lose control so suddenly.
