It’s hard not to feel the love when Indiana Jones shows his soft side.
Recently, when accepting the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, Harrison Ford delivered a teary-eyed message to his “lovely wife,” Calista Flockhart, who feeling his love, responded with tears and a soft smile from the table she sat, below the stage he stood.

Shortly after Harrison Ford, 81, and Calista Flockhart, 59, locked eyes at the 2002 Golden Globe Awards, it didn’t take long to be the other’s plus one at Hollywood events.
“I’m in love,” Ford gushed of the Ally McBeal star in a 2003 interview with Hello! “Romantic love is one of the most exciting and fulfilling kinds of love and I think there is a potential for it at any stage of your life. I was not surprised that I was able to fall in love, and I wasn’t surprised that I did.”
Flockhart was a bit surprised.
At the time, the star of the Indiana Jones franchise was legally separated from screenwriter Melissa Mathison, whom he divorced in 2004, and Flockhart admitted she wasn’t looking for love: “I remember loving him in Mosquito Coast, but I didn’t really think about him.”
But, fate had different plans for the adorable couple, who now share adopted son Liam Flockhart.
After Ford proposed to the star of Brothers and Sisters over the Valentine’s Day weekend in 2007, they were wed in 2010, in New Mexico where Ford was filming Cowboys and Aliens.
Since, the Golden Globe winners mutually support each other at events like the 2015 release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens and award shows, of which there are many for a duo like Ford and Flockhart.
Thrill-seeker
It’s obvious Ford, who still insists on doing his own stunts, is an adrenaline junkie.
In 2015, when the then 72-year-old legendary actor – who has his pilot’s license – crashed his plane, his doting wife stayed at her husband’s side, rallying his recovery.
“Calista arrived at the ER shortly after Harrison,” a source told People. “She looked concerned and stayed with Harrison until late last night. This morning, she drove [their son] Liam to school and then straight to the hospital. She is still at the hospital now.”
Despite the horrifying crash that was a “really hard, scary time” for the family, Flockhart accepts the boy and his toys: “He loves it, so I love it, and I support him 100 percent.” She added, “I think it just makes you realize once again that life can turn on a dime, and we just have to appreciate every second we’re here, because you never know.”
Most recently, he injured his shoulder while rehearsing a fight scene for Dial of Destiny. The forced break allowed the family a vacation in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where he was spotted sightseeing with Flockhart and Liam (23).
Sharing the screen?
Though the couple, who live on a sprawling ranch in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, is frequently seen at work events, the two have never shared a screen.
Last year, when speaking with Kelly Ripa on the former Live with Kelly and Ryan, the star of 1923 was asked if the two have considered working together. He replied with a short “Yeah.”
Looking for a more satisfying answer, Ripa then asked, “And will you work together?” To which he again said, “Yeah.”
Ryan Seacrest then jumped in and queried, “What would you do together?”
Responding with the dry wit that people love, Ford said, “Make the bed, one on each side.” Finally giving in, he added, “We haven’t seen something that came along when we were both free.”
Lifetime achievement for the legend
Collecting his career achievement award on January 14, 2024, the star of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny stood on stage, humbled by the standing ovation he received from the star-studded audience.“Come on,” Ford joked. “I only have three minutes.”
As the crowd erupted into a louder applause, the Blade Runner star continued, “First of all, I’m really happy to be here tonight to see what our business is turning into, and all the talented people who are getting opportunities that probably wouldn’t have existed in the early part of my career.”
His jovial speech then turned into words shared from his heart. Choking up, he thanks “the work of wonderful writers, directors, and filmmakers,” and most importantly, “I want to thank my lovely wife, Calista Flockhart, who supports me when I need a lot of support…And I need a lot of support.”
Fans then see Flockhart, who’s seated at the table below, tears filling her eyes as she adoringly looks at the man she married in 2010.
Last year, when the two were spotted at the opening of the latest Indiana Jones film, Ford again expressed his love and gratitude to his wife.
