Mamma Mia! and Leopoldstadt actress Gina Ferrall dies at 67

The theater world is mourning the loss of veteran Broadway actress Gina Ferrall, who has died at the age of 67 after a brief battle with uterine sarcoma. Her husband, Broadway musician Kory Grossman, confirmed the heartbreaking news. Known for her warmth, talent, and remarkable stage presence, Ferrall spent more than three decades entertaining audiences and earning the respect of fellow performers across the industry.

Born in San Francisco in 1958, Ferrall grew up surrounded by the arts. Her mother was an actress and her father worked as a director, helping inspire her lifelong love of performing. She made her Broadway debut in Les Misérables and quickly built an impressive career that included appearances in beloved productions such as Beauty and the Beast, The Sound of Music, A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum, Jane Eyre, and Mamma Mia!.

Over the years, Ferrall became a familiar and respected face on Broadway. She also appeared in Big River, It Shoulda Been You, She Loves Me, and the acclaimed 2022 revival of Leopoldstadt, where she portrayed Poldi, a loyal servant caught in the tragic events surrounding a Jewish family during the Holocaust. Her performances were praised for their depth, sincerity, and emotional impact.

Beyond the Broadway stage, Ferrall toured nationally in major productions, including Wicked and Les Misérables, bringing her talents to audiences across the country. She also appeared in television shows such as Law & Order, FBI, Blue Bloods, and The Good Cop. While her career was filled with memorable performances, friends and colleagues will remember her most for her kindness, dedication, and enduring passion for storytelling. She is survived by her husband, Kory Grossman.
