We’re used to seeing Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as a muscular action star, but his latest role is giving fans a completely different look at the Hollywood icon! Newly surfaced photos from the set of Lizard Music show the actor with gray hair, an older appearance, a bucket hat, and a coat as he walks through Brooklyn. The surprising transformation is part of his effort to portray a 70-year-old character in the upcoming fantasy film, scheduled to arrive on Christmas Day 2027.

Johnson plays a mysterious character known as the Chicken Man in the movie, directed by Benny Safdie and based on the book of the same name. In the set photos, he was spotted carrying a slice of pizza alongside co-star Theo Clark Leber. The film also features an impressive cast, including Rachel McAdams, Colman Domingo, Jeff Goldblum, Regina Hall, Alicia Silverstone, and David Krumholtz. Its unusual story follows a young boy who discovers strange lizard musicians on late-night television and befriends an eccentric man with an elderly chicken.
The transformation is another example of Johnson pushing himself beyond the roles audiences usually associate with him. For The Smashing Machine, he gained around 30 pounds to portray former MMA fighter Mark Kerr before returning toward his usual weight. He previously explained that he was gradually slimming down to play the much older Chicken Man, describing the process as an opportunity to immerse himself in a character and completely disappear into the role.
🎬 Johnson has said that taking on more challenging roles allows him to step outside his comfort zone and explore different sides of his acting abilities.
