An Oregon community is praising an 85-year-old man as a hero after he stepped in to help a young caregiver during a terrifying attack outside a mobile home park. Authorities said a 42-year-old man allegedly posed as a utility worker and waited near the area for hours before approaching the 25-year-old woman as she finished work.

Investigators said the suspect used a stun device on the woman, leaving her frightened and crying out for help. Hearing her screams, the elderly man rushed over without hesitation and confronted the attacker. His quick actions gave the young woman the chance to break free and run toward her car.

Officials said the suspect then turned toward the older man before chasing after the woman with a sharp object. Thankfully, she managed to get inside her vehicle and drive away safely before the situation became even more dangerous. Deputies later located the suspect hiding nearby and took him into custody.
