When Matt Grodsky was just 3 years old, he stood in front of his preschool class and confidently announced that he would one day marry his childhood sweetheart, Laura. At that age, everyone thought it was simply an adorable promise. But Matt never completely forgot those words.

The two grew up close, spending weekends together playing, watching movies and making childhood memories. Eventually, life took them in different directions. They attended separate schools and later went to colleges more than 1,600 miles apart. Somehow, however, they found their way back to each other during high school and eventually began dating.

They continued their relationship through college, even while living far apart. During their senior year, Matt decided to return to the place where their story began: their preschool. After secretly asking Laura’s father for his blessing and arranging for the moment to be photographed, he got down on one knee and proposed. Laura was completely surprised when she realized what was happening.

On December 30, 2016, the childhood sweethearts finally married, nearly two decades after Matt made his innocent preschool promise. Years later, they are celebrating 10 years of marriage and raising their two daughters, Lily and Hallie. What began as a simple declaration from a three-year-old became a remarkable love story that followed them from childhood into adulthood. ❤️
