Dolly Parton’s Manager Reveals What She Did In Her Final Days

Even in the final days of her life, Dolly Parton never stopped working toward the future. ❤️ After the beloved country music icon died on August 25 at age 80 following a brief battle with cancer, her longtime manager Danny Nozell revealed that she had remained deeply involved in her projects until the very end. “She loved seeing her dreams come to life,” Nozell said, adding that Dolly took enormous pride in knowing her work brought happiness to others.

Among the dreams she was still helping bring to life was the SongTeller Hotel in downtown Nashville, along with the Life of Many Colors Museum celebrating her extraordinary journey. She was also preparing DOLLY: A True Original Musical, the Broadway production based on her life and career. The show is scheduled to begin previews December 7, with its official opening planned for January 19, 2027—what would have been Dolly’s 81st birthday.

What makes her final chapter especially moving is how much she had planned beyond herself. 💔 Nozell said a handpicked team and detailed roadmap were in place, with music, books, products, experiences and other projects potentially still to come. Her family and team are now carrying forward work she personally helped shape, preserving the vision of an artist who wanted her creativity to keep touching people even after she was gone.

Dolly’s legacy was never only about music. Her generosity became just as powerful as her voice, from the Imagination Library’s worldwide literacy work to her support for medical research and countless charitable causes. ✨ She spent her final chapter still creating, planning and dreaming—and perhaps that is one of the most fitting ways for her story to end. Dolly Parton may be gone, but the dreams she left behind are only beginning to unfold.
