Sciatica is a painful condition that causes sharp, radiating discomfort from the lower back through the hips and down the legs, often linked to irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve. While medical treatment is important for serious or long-term cases, some people also use traditional remedies like garlic milk to help support comfort and reduce inflammation.
Garlic milk is a simple homemade drink made using just a few basic ingredients. To prepare it, take 3–4 fresh garlic cloves, peel them, and slice them thinly so the active compounds release more easily. Place one cup of milk in a small saucepan (dairy or plant-based, though full-fat milk is often preferred), then add the sliced garlic.
Heat the mixture on low heat and let it gently simmer for about 10–15 minutes. Avoid boiling it too strongly, as this can reduce the natural properties of the ingredients. Stir occasionally until the garlic becomes soft and the milk takes on a light aroma. Once ready, remove it from heat and strain it into a cup to remove the garlic pieces.
Some people choose to add a small amount of honey for taste or a pinch of turmeric for extra anti-inflammatory support. The drink is usually consumed warm, often before bed, for a calming effect during rest.
While garlic milk is used by some for discomfort relief, it should be seen as a supportive home remedy rather than a replacement for professional medical care, especially if sciatic pain is severe or persistent.
