Michael P. Desronvil became the center of attention after being identified as the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial. The jury reached an 11–1 deadlock, with Desronvil maintaining that Clancy should be held criminally responsible for the deaths of her three children. The deadlock ultimately resulted in a mistrial on September 4.

Desronvil later spoke publicly through his attorney, saying he “didn’t have any doubts” about his position. He said the physical evidence, witness testimony and prosecution’s case convinced him that Clancy knew what she was doing. This differed from accounts given by some other jurors, who said he had expressed doubts during deliberations.

After his identity became public, Desronvil reportedly faced doxxing, harassment and death threats, according to his attorney. He has been staying at an undisclosed secure location, while supporters organized a fundraiser intended to help with security, lost work and other expenses. The fundraiser had surpassed $350,000 by September 21.

The controversy has continued beyond the mistrial. Clancy’s defense attorney has asked the judge to investigate Desronvil, including allegations that he may have used a cellphone during deliberations and questions about information provided during jury selection. A hearing is scheduled for September 29, while prosecutors have not yet announced whether they will seek a retrial.
