🚽 NO PLUNGER? Don’t panic! This simple trick could unclog your toilet using something you probably already have at home. If your toilet is blocked and you’re worried about making the mess even worse, there’s an easy method worth trying before calling a plumber.
🧼 Start by pouring about 1/4 cup of liquid dish soap directly into the toilet bowl. Then heat about a gallon of water until it’s very hot—but NOT boiling. Carefully pour the water into the bowl from a little height, then let everything sit for 15–20 minutes. The soap can help lubricate the blockage and make it easier for the water and pressure to move it along.
🧪 If that doesn’t work, another commonly suggested method is baking soda and white vinegar. Add about one cup of baking soda followed by two cups of vinegar, let it fizz for 20–30 minutes, and then add hot water. You can also try using a toilet brush to gently create pressure in the drain. Avoid using boiling water, which can damage the porcelain.
⚠️ One important warning: Don’t keep flushing if the water is already close to overflowing. And if the blockage is caused by something solid or the toilet remains clogged after several attempts, it’s safer to stop and call a plumber. Have you ever tried the dish-soap trick? Did it actually work? 👇
