Jill Biden says she noticed a warning sign in her husband, Joe Biden, long before doctors discovered his aggressive prostate cancer. She revealed that he was waking up multiple times every night — sometimes as many as seven times — to use the bathroom. She brought the concern to the White House medical team but believed the issue had been addressed.
After leaving the White House, the problem continued. Jill encouraged Joe to seek another medical opinion, telling him she felt something was wrong. He followed her advice, and in May 2025 he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had already spread to his bones.
Jill said she was surprised the condition was not detected earlier, especially considering the extensive medical evaluations he received while serving as president. She described the care they received as excellent overall, making the missed diagnosis even more difficult to understand. Today, the couple manages his condition through regular testing and medication every few months.
Having already experienced the loss of their son Beau to cancer in 2015, the family understands the emotional weight of the disease. Jill described living with cancer as a constant challenge but said Joe is continuing to do well. Their story highlights the importance of listening to your body and seeking medical advice when something doesn’t feel right.
