An 18-year-old convicted of killing 15-year-old Kayla Rincon-Miller was sentenced to life in prison after a judge denied his final request in court.

The case began in March 2024 when Kayla was walking with friends after leaving a movie theater in Florida. Prosecutors said Stein and another teen were looking for robbery victims when Kayla was shot and killed. Stein was convicted of first-degree murder and attempted armed robbery, receiving a life sentence plus 45 years.
