Kevin Federline, the former husband of pop star Britney Spears, is reportedly facing serious financial pressure after the monthly child support payments he received from the singer came to an end. According to court documents obtained by Page Six, Federline, 48, is being sued by City National Bank over at least $117,704 in outstanding debt, involving a credit card, a personal line of credit and an overdraft facility.
Federline reportedly received $40,000 per month in child support while raising the former couple’s sons in Hawaii. After their older son turned 18 in 2023, the amount was reduced to $20,000 monthly, with payments continuing until the younger son finished high school. In his memoir, You Thought You Knew, Federline claimed that security costs and maintaining the lifestyle the boys were accustomed to could exceed $40,000 a month, adding that the money disappeared almost as soon as it arrived.
The lawsuit reportedly states that the debts had different repayment deadlines, with some dating back to 2025 and the credit card balance due in August 2026. The listed interest rates are also substantial: 20.5% on the credit card, 7.5% on the personal credit line and 18% on the overdraft. Federline and Spears married in 2004, welcomed sons Sean Preston and Jayden James in 2005 and 2006, and finalized their divorce in 2007. Federline also has four children from other relationships.
Meanwhile, Spears appears to be rebuilding her relationship with her sons after years of family distance. Reports say she recently reunited with Sean during a yacht getaway, sharing photos with her children. Sean has also reportedly added the Spears name to his Instagram identity, a move that has attracted attention online. The reported debt case adds another chapter to the former couple’s complicated family story.
