Lionel Richie, 77, Rushed to Hospital Mid-Concert After Pausing His Performance — Fans React

Music legend Lionel Richie reportedly made a precautionary trip to the hospital after cutting his concert in St. Paul, Minnesota, short due to a dizzy spell. The 77-year-old singer was performing the opening night of his Sing a Song All Night Long tour with Earth, Wind & Fire when he began feeling unwell on stage.

While performing his hit “Dancing on the Ceiling,” Richie signaled that he needed to sit down to finish the song. Afterward, he joked with the audience, saying that after years in the music business, he had learned that when you feel dizzy, “sit your ass down.” Although the crowd laughed, he admitted it was the first time he had ever performed the song while seated, calling it “a bad sign.”

Moments later, saxophonist Dino Soldo informed fans that Richie was not feeling well enough to continue the concert. According to reports, he was taken to a nearby hospital as a precaution. At this time, there have been no announcements regarding cancellations, and his next scheduled performance remains set for Chicago.

Fans quickly flooded social media with messages of support, praising Richie for recognizing something was wrong and putting his health first. The Grammy-winning artist has previously spoken about overcoming serious vocal cord problems in the 1990s, eventually recovering after multiple surgeries and treatment for acid reflux. Supporters are now hoping the music icon makes a full and speedy recovery.
