Hayden Panettiere’s sudden death at 36 has taken another heartbreaking turn, after emergency dispatch audio and a new piece of evidence reportedly surfaced from the South Carolina residence where she was found. Panettiere was discovered unresponsive on Sunday afternoon, with emergency crews arriving around 1:50 p.m. and immediately performing CPR and advanced life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, the Heroes actress was pronounced dead at the scene.
While reports have fueled speculation about an overdose, officials have not confirmed the cause of death. Greenville County Coroner Mike Ellis said an autopsy found no signs of trauma that contributed to her death and that the cause and manner remain pending further investigation and additional studies. Neighbors also described the shocking police and emergency response at the apartment complex, saying they only learned later that the woman who had died was Panettiere.
Adding to the speculation, TMZ reported that a Narcan device was found on a mattress inside the apartment. Narcan is commonly used to reverse opioid overdoses, but its presence alone does not prove that Panettiere overdosed or that she received the medication. It is also reportedly unclear whether the dose was administered to her or someone else. The investigation remains ongoing, and officials have yet to provide a definitive explanation for her death.

Panettiere had previously spoken openly about her struggles with alcohol and opioid addiction, describing how substance use had eventually become difficult to control. However, those past struggles should not be treated as proof of what happened in her final moments. For now, the official cause of death remains unknown, leaving her family, friends and fans waiting for answers. Rest in peace, Hayden Panettiere.
