Police have released new details following the death of actress Hayden Panettiere at 36. According to the Greenville Police Department, officers and emergency medical personnel responded to a report of an unresponsive woman at around 1:50 p.m. Sunday in South Carolina. Panettiere was pronounced dead at the scene after medical assistance was provided. Police said an acquaintance made the 911 call.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding her death alongside the Greenville County Coroner’s Office. At this stage, police said the preliminary investigation has found no signs of foul play or suspicious circumstances. Her representative confirmed that an investigation remains ongoing, while her family has asked for privacy as they cope with the loss.

Panettiere began working in entertainment as a child and went on to become internationally known for roles including Claire Bennet in Heroes, Juliette Barnes in Nashville, and Kirby Reed in Scream 4 and Scream VI. She was also open about the struggles she faced away from the cameras, including addiction, postpartum depression, and an abusive relationship. Her brother Jansen died in 2023 at just 28, adding another devastating loss to her life.
Her father, Skip Panettiere, remembered his daughter as “an incredible light” who brought love and joy to those around her and to millions of fans. Hayden leaves behind her daughter, Kaya, as well as her parents and a career that began when she was only a child. The cause of death has not yet been publicly released, and the investigation is continuing.
