Le lien entre Hachiko et le professeur Ueno était si fort que même après la mort de ce dernier, Hachiko l’a attendu chaque jour à la gare pendant neuf ans, jusqu’à sa propre mort. L’histoire de Hachiko a inspiré des livres, des films et même une statue érigée en son honneur à la gare de Shibuya à Tokyo, où il attendait fidèlement son propriétaire bien-aimé.
