Richard Gere a joué le rôle principal dans le film réconfortant “Hachi : A Dog’s Tale”, basé sur l’histoire vraie de Hachiko, un fidèle chien Akita au Japon. Hachiko attendait chaque jour son propriétaire, le professeur Ueno, à la gare, même après la mort soudaine de ce dernier. L’histoire de la loyauté et du dévouement inébranlables de Hachiko a touché le cœur de nombreuses personnes et est devenue un symbole de loyauté et d’amour dans le monde entier. Le lien entre Hachiko et le professeur Ueno était si fort que même après la mort de ce dernier, Hachiko l’a attendu chaque jour à la gare pendant neuf ans, jusqu’à sa propre mort. L’histoire de Hachiko a inspiré des livres, des films et même une statue érigée en son honneur à la gare de Shibuya à Tokyo, où il attendait fidèlement son propriétaire bien-aimé.
