RJ Mitte, ‘Breaking Bad’ star, dies at 34

RJ Mitte, best known for playing Walter White Jr. in the hit television series Breaking Bad, has died at the age of 34. His representatives confirmed his death on October 12, 2026, in Brownsville, Texas. The actor, who lived with cerebral palsy, became a respected advocate for disability awareness and inclusion, using his public platform to challenge stereotypes and encourage greater representation.

Mitte rose to fame in the acclaimed AMC drama, which ran from 2008 to 2013. He portrayed the son of Walter White, played by Bryan Cranston, and Skyler White, played by Anna Gunn. His performance brought authenticity to the character’s experiences and helped audiences better understand life with a disability. His cause of death has not been officially confirmed in initial reports, and authorities said the circumstances remained under investigation.

Beyond acting, Mitte dedicated much of his time to charitable work and disability rights. He served as an ambassador for United Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s, while also leading the Mitte Foundation. He continued working in entertainment after Breaking Bad, appearing in projects including Switched at Birth and The Guardians of Justice.
