Grey hair is a natural part of aging, but many people look for gentle, natural ways to restore hair color and strength. One traditional remedy uses roasted onion peels combined with natural herbs and oils to support healthier, darker-looking hair over time. This homemade treatment is simple, affordable, and widely used in natural hair care routines.
To prepare it, take the peels from 2–3 onions and roast them with a handful of curry leaves, 1 teaspoon of black seeds (kalonji), and 4–5 cloves until the peels turn black. Once cooled, grind the mixture into a fine powder and mix it with 1 cup of black seed oil or mustard oil until it forms a rich, infused oil blend.
Apply the mixture gently to your scalp, focusing on grey areas and hair roots. Massage well and leave it on for at least 30–60 minutes, or overnight for deeper absorption. Wash it off with a mild shampoo. This treatment is believed to nourish the scalp, improve circulation, and support melanin production in hair follicles.
Some also combine garlic peels, tea powder, and natural extracts like khatta (from the Acacia tree) to create a natural hair dye powder. These ingredients are thought to strengthen hair roots, reduce dandruff, and improve scalp health. While results vary, consistency and patience are key, along with a healthy diet and regular care routine.
