Fans of Big Brother are mourning the death of Amber Siyavus, who appeared on the show’s eighth season in 2007. According to reports citing records from the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner in Nevada, Siyavus died on October 9, 2026, at age 46. Her cause and manner of death have not been determined, and the investigation remains ongoing. During her time in the house, Amber became known for her emotional openness, earning the nickname “Whamber” from viewers. She spent more than 60 days competing and finished in seventh place.
Amber spoke openly about her daughter, Lexi Tomcavage, during the show and developed close friendships with fellow contestants Dustin Erikstrup and Jameka Cameron. In a tribute following news of her death, longtime host Julie Chen Moonves shared a clip from their 2007 interview and remembered Amber for her heart and honesty, expressing love and offering a spiritual message of remembrance.
Behind her reality-TV fame, Amber experienced significant personal hardship. In 2018, her 18-year-old daughter died in Ohio in a death reportedly investigated as an apparent suicide. Amber also faced legal problems in Nevada. According to court records cited by TMZ, she pleaded guilty in 2020 to attempting to resist an officer with a dangerous weapon following an incident involving a Henderson police officer. She received a suspended prison sentence, probation and orders for substance-abuse and mental-health evaluations.
That same year, Amber also pleaded guilty to felony forgery involving Western Union money orders, receiving another suspended sentence and probation. By 2023, she was reportedly no longer under court supervision for those offenses. Despite these difficult chapters, many fans remember her for her vulnerability and memorable presence on Big Brother. Her death has prompted renewed tributes to the woman viewers first came to know nearly two decades ago.
