Why a Cincinnati bride’s landlord walked her down the aisle

At a Cincinnati wedding, an unexpected but deeply emotional moment unfolded when 79-year-old landlord Gil Pulliam walked his tenant, Shacole Fox, down the aisle. What began as a simple landlord-tenant relationship revealed a quiet bond built on care, respect, and genuine humanity.

Shacole, a makeup artist who rents her studio space from Pulliam, grew up without her father and admitted that as her wedding day approached, she felt an emotional void. The idea of who would walk her down the aisle became one of the hardest parts of planning her ceremony, as she quietly carried that absence with her.

Sensing her situation, Pulliam made a quiet but life-changing decision to step in. He later explained that he simply followed his instincts and, having never had a daughter of his own, felt an unexpected emotional pull to be there for her. He asked Shacole if she would allow him to escort her down the aisle, not just as her landlord, but as someone who didn’t want her to experience that moment alone. Overwhelmed by his sincerity, she agreed immediately, deeply touched by his gesture.

On the wedding day, Pulliam held her hand tightly as he walked her down the aisle, turning a personal milestone into a healing moment. Shacole later described it as something that filled a long-standing emotional gap, saying it felt like a wound had finally begun to close. Beyond becoming a wife to her husband Victor, she also gained a father figure in the most unexpected of ways.
