Allison Fisher, a 20-year-old woman from Florida, considers herself lucky to have been given a “second life” after being diagnosed with a massive ovarian cyst. Her health issues began in 2020, when she started experiencing constant stomach pain along with unpredictable and irregular periods. Although it was clear something wasn’t right, she hesitated to visit a doctor, fearing her symptoms would simply be blamed on her weight.
“I let myself believe that if I ignored it, it would go away,” Allison said, admitting she was deeply afraid. She explained that throughout her life, regardless of the reason for a doctor’s visit, she was often told to lose weight. This led her to feel dismissed and discouraged from seeking medical help, making her question whether anyone would truly listen to her concerns.
Over time, Allison noticed her stomach becoming unusually hard and growing in size. Suspecting it might be an ovarian cyst after reading about similar cases, she eventually realized something serious was happening. The discomfort became extreme—she described feeling as though she was “pregnant with 10 kids,” unable to lie on her stomach and constantly feeling pressure on her organs.
By late 2022, the cyst had grown so large that it began affecting her breathing. Doctors later confirmed it weighed around 100 pounds and needed urgent removal. The surgery was successful, and doctors were even able to save her fertility despite complications. Afterward, Allison felt an incredible sense of relief and renewal, saying she could finally see her feet again and live more comfortably. She now hopes her story encourages others not to delay seeking medical care out of fear or past experiences.
