More than 485,000 homes and businesses across the United States were left without power late Sunday as severe weather affected multiple regions, according to outage tracking data. Michigan experienced the largest impact, with more than 100,000 customers losing electricity, including over 82,000 served by a DTE Energy unit.
Pennsylvania reported the second-highest number of outages, with nearly 96,000 customers affected. A PPL Electric Utilities unit accounted for more than 65,000 of those outages, although crews had already restored power to hundreds of thousands of customers following the storms. Officials said restoration efforts were continuing as quickly and safely as possible.
New York also faced major disruptions, with Con Edison reporting that extreme weather had affected around 173,700 customers. The company restored power to more than 166,800 customers, with areas including Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Rye, and New Rochelle experiencing some of the worst storm-related outages.
The largest reported outages by state included Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Ohio, and Texas. Utility crews across the affected states continued working to restore electricity while officials reminded residents to remain cautious around damaged power lines and storm-related hazards. The widespread outages highlight the challenges communities face when extreme weather puts pressure on electrical infrastructure.
