Actress Daveigh Chase, best known for voicing Lilo in Lilo & Stitch and for her role in The Ring, has died at the age of 35. According to her boyfriend, Roy Hernandez, she passed away after suffering complications from meningitis and a bloodstream infection that developed into sepsis.
Reports from outlets including Page Six state that Chase died on Tuesday after being recently hospitalized in Los Angeles. Her condition worsened after the infection spread, eventually leading to septic complications that caused her body to shut down, according to Hernandez.
Born in Las Vegas on July 29, 1990, Chase rose to fame at a young age. In 2002, she became widely recognized for voicing Lilo in Disney’s Lilo & Stitch, a role that made her a childhood star. That same year, she also portrayed Samara Morgan in The Ring, a performance that earned her an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain.
Throughout her career, Chase also lent her voice to Chihiro in the English version of Spirited Away and appeared in projects such as Donnie Darko and HBO’s Big Love. In a message shared after her passing, Hernandez described her as someone who had faced many struggles but still brought love and light to those around her. He said she had always hoped for a peaceful and safe home together.
